Flynn's possible successors, 3 former generals race

Michael Flynn resigned as national security adviser Monday night, leaving vacant one of the most important positions in the administration of the White House.

According to CNN reports, President Donald Trump has asked retired Gen. Keith Kellogg to take this action temporarily.

But Kellogg was in the race to take the post full-time, as well as retired General David Petraeus and former Rear Admiral Bob Harward, who have reopened the race in question.

But who are these contenders for a post of such importance to the staff of Trump?

Like Flynn, the Kellogg is a former 3-star general, who retired from the army and decided to serve in the administration Trump.

He stayed for several decades in uniform on climbing the ranks until he retired at the beginning of the war in Iraq.

However, he continued cooperation with the US government, taking an important role in steering the Coalition Provisional Authority, a group that was tasked with reorganizing the government and the Iraqi army after the fall of Saddam Hussein's regime.

Finally, he worked under the direct orders of Flynn until it resigned, and earlier as foreign policy adviser during the campaign to Trump.

Petraeus also is a former soldier who served for many years under the gun, before reaching the brightness, but also the decline during the Obama administration.

Petraeus was a key military figures who made the US approach to the conflicts in the Middle East. He gained popularity for the work they did to stem the violence that had gripped Iraq by the end of 2000.

Then he led troops in Afghanistan and later was appointed by President Obama to head the CIA. But very soon he would resign from the post due to an extramarital affair with his biographer.

Rear Admiral Harward also served in the Navy, even in the ranks of the elite Navy Seal unit. During the Obama administration, he worked as number two at the US Central Command.

After the withdrawal of the military served as chairman in the prestigious American armaments company "Lockheed Martin UAE".

In some emails published by "The Washington Post", secretary general who is already Defense James Mattis said to Howard: "It's a brilliant man, as SEAL".
