Grand Theft Auto V is an open world, action-adventure video game developed by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games. It was released on 17 September 2013 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, on 18 November 2014 for the PlayStation 4 andXbox One, and on 14 April 2015 for Microsoft Windows. The game is the first main entry in the Grand Theft Auto series since 2008'sGrand Theft Auto IV. Set within the fictional state of San Andreas, based on Southern California, the single-player story follows three criminals and their efforts to commit heists while under pressure from a government agency. The open world design lets players freely roam San Andreas's open countryside and fictional city of Los Santos, based on Los Angeles.

Gameplay

Grand Theft Auto V is an action-adventure game^[3] played from either a first-person^[4][c] or third-person view.^[5] Players complete missions—linear scenarios with set objectives—to progress through the story.^[6] Outside of missions, players may freely roam the open world. Composed of the San Andreas open countryside area and the fictional city of Los Santos, the world is much larger in area than earlier entries in the series.^[7][d] It may be fully explored after the game's beginning without restriction, although story progress unlocks more gameplay content

Nine years after a botched robbery in Ludendorff, North Yankton, former bank robber Michael Townley lives under witness protection with his family in Los Santos, San Andreas, under the alias Michael De Santa. He meets and befriends gangbanger Franklin Clinton when the latter attempts to fraudulently repossess his son's car on behalf of a corrupt Armenian car salesman. When Michael discovers his wife Amanda has been sleeping with her tennis coach, he chases the coach to a mansion and destroys it out of anger. The mansion's owner turns out to be the girlfriend of Mexican drug lord Martin Madrazo, who demands compensation under the threat of further violence. Michael goes back into a life of crime to obtain the money and enlists Franklin as an accomplice. Together, they perform a jewellery shop heist to help pay the debt. Michael's sole surviving partner in the Ludendorff robbery, Trevor Philips, hears of the jewellery heist and realises that it was Michael's handiwork. The two reunite after Trevor tracks Michael down in Los Santos.

Development

Rockstar North began to develop Grand Theft Auto V in 2009, following Grand Theft Auto IV's release.^[34] Development was conducted by a team of more than 1,000 people, including Rockstar North's core team and staff from parent company Rockstar Games's studios around the world.^[35] The proprietary Rockstar Advanced Game Engine (RAGE) was overhauled for the game to improve its draw distance rendering capabilities.^[36] The Euphoria and Bullet software handle additional animation and rendering tasks.^[37]Having become familiar with the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 hardware over time, Rockstar found they were able to push the consoles' graphical capabilities further than in previous games.^[38] Analyst estimations place the game's combined development and marketing budget at more than £170 million (US $265 million), which would make it the most expensive game ever made at that time

The brand AVG comes from Grisoft's first product, "Anti-Virus Guard", launched in 1992 in Czechoslovakia. In 1997, the first AVG licenses were sold in Germany and UK. AVG was introduced in the U.S. in 1998.^[2]

The AVG Free Edition helped raise awareness of the AVG product line.^[3]

In 2006, the AVG security package grew to include anti-spyware, as AVG Technologies acquired ewido Networks, an anti-spyware group. That same year, Microsoft announced that AVG components would be available directly within the Windows Vista operating system.

AVG Technologies acquired Exploit Prevention Labs (XPL) in December 2007, and incorporated that company's LinkScanner safe search and surf technology into the AVG 8.0 security product range released in March 2008.

In January 2009, AVG Technologies acquired Sana Security, a developer of identity theft prevention software. This software was incorporated into the AVG security product range released in March 2009.

According to AVG Technologies, the company has more than 200 million active users worldwide, including more than 100 million who use their products and services on mobile devices.^[4]

Versions for Windows desktop clients[edit]

AVG Technologies provides a number of products from the AVG range, suitable for Windows 2000 onwards. In addition to this, AVG Technologies also provides Linux, FreeBSD, and most recently OS X versions of the software. AVG Anti-Virus 9.0 is available in free and commercial editions. AVG 9.0 has identity theft protection through a partnership with Intersections Inc., AVG 9.0 also adds white listing, behavioral protection and cloud operations to their signature-based blocking. The software adds the Resident Shield, firewall, and identity protection modules. The LinkScanner component has been improved to cut phishing threats further.^[5] Version 9 was the last version compatible with Windows 2000.

For desktop protection of PC's running Windows, the AVG solutions include:

• AVG Internet Security is a full suite which brings together the AVG Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware, LinkScanner, Anti-Rootkit, Web Shield, Security Toolbar, Firewall, Anti-Spam, Identity Protection and System Tools protection components.
• AVG Protection is subscription-based AVG Internet Security product integrated within Zen platform
• AVG Protection FREE is the AVG AntiVirus FREE software integrated within Zen platform
• AVG Identity Protection was a discontinued product providing protection against identity theft and unknown malware threats using behavioral monitoring.
• AVG Anti-Virus Plus Firewall was a discontinued version providing the Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware, LinkScanner, Anti-Rootkit, Web Shield, Security Toolbar and Firewall protection components.
• AVG Anti-Spyware was a rebranded version of ewido Anti-Spyware,^[6] that was integrated into AVG Anti-Virus as of version 8.0. A free version was also available, having now been merged into AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition
• AVG Anti-Rootkit was a free anti-Rootkit program that was discontinued as of late 2006. Like AVG Anti-Spyware, it has now been merged into AVG Anti-Virus
• AVGADMIN was a discontinued a remote administration tool, which allows the software to be managed centrally on networks.^{[citation needed]}
• AVG AntiVirus provides the Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware, LinkScanner, Anti-Rootkit, Web Shield, and Security Toolbar protection components.
• AVG Search a search engine by AVG which provides less risk in internet searching.
  • Like other security products,^{[citation needed]} AVG disables Windows Defender.
• AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition provides basic, Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware protection, plus the full AVG LinkScanner safe search and surf technology. There are some limitations with AVG AntiVirus Free Edition compared to the commercial versions of AVG products and other free antivirus. These limitations include:
  • Less protection – AVG AntiVirus Free Edition provides the same anti-virus and anti-spyware scanning engine as the commercial product; however, it lacked anti-rootkitprotection until 2010. The older 7.5 Free Edition is perfectly capable of finding and disabling rootkits based on signatures, but cannot scan for rootkit-like activity. The 8.5 version of AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition version lacks any anti-rootkit capability. While there is no official protection for files from messaging sources, the Resident Shieldcomponent automatically scans files before they are opened or copied.
  • Infrequent updates – AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition receives updates via a lower priority service. Priority updating via high-speed servers is only available for the commercial versions of AVG products.
  • No telephone or e-mail technical support – There is no telephone or e-mail technical support provided by AVG for users of AVG Free Edition products anywhere in the world. AVG Free Edition users have access to support via the self-help AVG Free Forum.^[7]
  • Less customization – Scheduling options in AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition are very limited (only one scheduled update per day). However, the AVG Resident Shield configuration allows exclusions. The on-demand/scheduled scanner allows advanced testing options such as heuristics and reporting of password-protected archives reporting. Process priority for on-demand/scheduled scans can be dynamically adjusted over three different configurations.
  • No server support – AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition cannot be installed on server operating systems (such as Windows Server 2003), except for AVG 2011 Free Edition, nor can it be used for the scanning of network drives.
  • AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition is only licensed for home and non-commercial use on a single computer.

AVG Free Edition has previously been responsible for popup ads advertising the non-free versions of AVG Anti-Virus and AVG Internet Security, which claim to provide more comprehensive levels of protection.^[8][9] AVG Anti-Virus 8.5 Free Edition users are now also subject to a daily pop-up advertising campaign for a "recommended upgrade" to AVG Internet Security. A "manager" on the AVG free version forum states that this advertisement appears once per day for one month each year.^[10]

AVG paid license version will intermittently display popup ads advertising additional AVG products such as AVG's Quick Tune product. This advertising cannot be disabled.

The AVG license agreement includes a clause (Section 9) authorizing AVG to collect, from your computer, any Non-Personally Identifiable Information they desire and to share it with their business partners anywhere in the world. It also authorizes AVG to track your computer usage.

All versions of the AVG products, excluding AVG Anti-Rootkit Free Edition (now discontinued), are compatible with the 64-bit edition of Windows.

Versions for servers[edit]

AVG Technologies also sells AVG anti-virus and Internet security solutions for web/file servers or email servers running either Linux, FreeBSD or Windows.

• AVG Internet Security Business Edition provides centrally controlled protection for workstations and file servers, e-mail server and Microsoft SharePoint server protection, plus e-mail server based anti-spam protection.
• AVG Anti-Virus Business Edition provides centrally controlled anti-virus and anti-spyware protection for workstations and file servers.
• AVG File Server Edition provides anti-virus and anti-spyware protection for file servers.

Camtasia Studio and Camtasia for Mac (pronunciation: ) are software suites, created and published byTechSmith, for creating video tutorials and presentations directly via screencast, or via a direct recording plug-in to Microsoft PowerPoint. The screen area to be recorded can be chosen freely, and audio or other multimedia recordings may be recorded at the same time or added separately from any other source and integrated in the Camtasia Studio component of the product. Both versions of Camtasia started as enhanced screen capture programs and have evolved to integrate screen capture and post-processing tools targeted at the educational and information multimedia development marketplace.

Camtasia Studio v8 for Microsoft Windows consists of two major components:

• Camtasia Recorder - a separate tool for capturing screen audio and video
• Camtasia Studio editor - the component for which the entire product is named, which is now a multimedia authoring tool with the industry standard "timeline" interface for managing multiple clips in a stacked track form plus enhancements summarized below.

Camtasia Studio Recorder

In Camtasia Recorder, the presenter can start and stop recording with a hotkey combination at any time, at which point the recording can be halted and resumed or Camtasia Recorder can render the input that has been captured into a CAMREC format. The CAMREC file can be saved to disk or directly imported into the Camtasia Studio component for editing. Camtasia Recorder allows audio recording while screen-capturing is in progress, so the presenter can capture live narration during a demonstration or presentation. Camtasia also supports dubbing in other audio tracks or voiceover during post-capture editing. Users may also download an Add-In for Microsoft Power Point that will allow them to easily initiate recording of a presentation from within Power Point itself.

Camtasia Studio editor[edit]

In Camtasia Studio editor, you can import multimedia objects of various formats into the clip library and arrange them in time order and stacked tracks using the timeline form of user controls that is so common among video editors today. Overlays of various types may be added including user-defined settings, such as when and how to display the cursor, pan-and-zoom effects such as the Ken Burns effect. Camtasia Studio v8 and Camtasia Mac v2 offer numerous options to enhance sections of the recorded screen to draw attention via a cursor or drawn in pointer to highlight section(s) of the screen or to better illustrate the actions of the presenter on the screen. Another very useful feature is the ability to save media clips within the library tab, keeping a user from having to repeatedly import commonly-used media clips/files.

Post-production[edit]

After capturing a presentation in the Camatasia Recorder, the Camtasia Studio component can be used to modify audio and video displayed as tracks by using the timeline control and object library interface with an integrated preview window. The image in the infobox to the right is a screen capture of the timeline interface. In addition, Camtasia Studio allows voice overlay for the presenter or editor, as well as the ability to add sound effects in many different formats including music formats into the clip bin and arrange anywhere on the timeline.

Many presenters prefer to wait until they have finished the screen-capture and then record the narration from a script as the application is playing back the recorded capture. They can do so in the Camtasia Studio editor and overlay the original recorded audio.

Rendering and deployment[edit]

The Camtasia Studio program allows import of various types of multimedia video and audio files including MP4, MP3, WMV, WMA, AVI, WAV and many other formats into the Camtasia proprietary CAMREC format, which is readable only by Camtasia. The CAMREC format is a single container for potentially hundreds of multimedia objects including video clips, still images, document screen shots and special effect containers. Camtasia also allows entire projects under development to be exported as one zip file for portability to other workstations with Camtasia or other video editing software. The created video can be exported to common video formats including MPEG-2, MPEG-4, WMV,AVI, and Adobe Flash. There are preset output formats that can be read by software available on the vast majority of current generation mobile devices, desktop, and laptop computers without requiring any Camtasia software or license. An additional component is included, Camtasia Player v8.2 for the Microsoft Windows version only, which can be freely shared and supports replay of variety of video formats on computers running Microsoft Windows.

Common uses[edit]

• Instructional designers rely heavily on Camtasia to produce screencasts for training purposes. This has become even more true as the style of instruction continues to change from traditional classroom and other "heavy" training methods to a more bite size (microlearning) format. Tools such as Camtasia Studio allow instructional designers the flexibility to create, publish and distribute just-in-time training to learners, without fear of heavy costs and training unit life expectancy.

Reviews[edit]

The v8 updates to Camtasia Studio have eliminated some of the prior release issues including excessive rendering times and excessive consumption of system resources during production. Other pros from reviews and from the Ning.com Camtasia Studio Feedback Forums are as follows:

• Enhanced multi-track video/audio editing capabilities compared to v7
• Improved handling of embedded hyperlinks compared to v7
• Higher quality screen action capture compared to v7
• Integrated audio-clip enhancement
• Integrated tutorial for both Camtasia Studio and PowerPoint plug-in components
• Large library of tutorial material
• Good support resources, both online and via text chat. Options for in-person telephone support available for fully licensed versions
• Educational discount license for students and instructor K-12 or university use

Camtasia Studio's shortcomings noted in the PC World review of January 17, 2013 and CNET review of June 19, 2012 and key shortcomings from Ning.com Camtasia Studio Feedback Forums are as follows:

• Rotation of objects is applied via a dialog rather than interactively, though many lower-priced video editors do provide interactive rotation and manipulation of objects such as text and video frames
• Recording live from a DV camera is not supported
• Still potentially overwhelming for the introductory user, tempered by the tutorial material available. NOTE the V8 release is a complete rewrite so much of the prior tutorial material written for the popular Camtasia Studio v6 and v7 software for Microsoft Windows is not usable with this release.
• Audio handling has minimal capabilities and no integration with other packages compared to some competitors in this price range
• Lacks any video-clip manipulation or integration with other packages that have such capabilities

PC World noted that "Camtasia [Studio] has evolved from being the go-to program for software demonstrators to a full-featured education/information video tool" from this 4 1/2 star review. An earlier 2005 review is still relevant, which states that, though "powerful," Camtasia can be "a little overwhelming at the start" to new users, though the learning curve is easily manageable. ^{[5] [6] [7] [8]}
